Central 1 Credit Union was founded after the merger of Credit Union Central BC and Ontario Central. A brand identity program was created to represent this new venture. Working closely with senior executives from BC and Ontario, the organization’s values and aspirations were distilled into a strong, memorable form.
The logo includes two elements: a stylized symbol and an accompanying word mark. The symbol, built from an uppercase ‘C’ and a stylized ‘1’, is reminiscent of two columns. Just as Central 1 was formed from two partners, the ‘1’ is created from two interdependent shapes. As a whole, the logo embodies strength, innovation, growth and partnership.
A comprehensive standards guide captured the essence of the brand and ensured consistent implementation of the design system. The new brand captures the value of Central 1, an organization with over $7.5 billion in assets.
